Our History
A Child’s Voice Foundation® began with the single vision of one woman who wanted to make a difference in the lives of financially disadvantaged children in Canada. Through first hand experiences and research, Executive Director Roslyn Yearwood came to realize that there were literally thousands of children who were falling between the cracks and in need of healthcare, services and basic needs not provided by levels of government or other organizations. It was in 1995, that she made a commitment to those children and created A Child’s Voice Foundation, a place where “Kids Come First”.
Children need a voice and the right tools to counteract poverty, poor nutrition, at risk social environments or anything that would impoverish their lives. Some of these children’s are in low-income families or foster care; others are children with medial conditions and special needs whose families are burdened financially by the extra support and services needed to care for their children and whom private and government insurance programs ignore. The faces of these children are many and varied and A Child’s Voice Foundation is committed to aid this large and essential segment of Canadian society that continues to fall between the cracks and have no where to turn..
A Child’s Voice Foundation is a grass roots, community based not-for-profit charity that operates nationally to reach every child in need of its support. Focused on creating comprehensive programs and community solutions to fulfill those needs, the foundation works tirelessly to provide children with much needed services and support through its two specialized programs,Angel Hair for Kids® and Kids Life Line™.
Dedicated to support and enhance the physical and emotional well being of financially disadvantaged children in Canada, A Child’s Voice Foundation embraces that all its operations, programming, and corporate character and behaviour are informed and shaped by its mission, vision and values constantly evolving to meet the changing needs of the children we help.
